Passive FTP issue with FTP Explorer

I have the server installed and am having trouble with a set of users that use FTP Explorer as their FTP client. (they are, at this point, unwilling to change that - I've tried)

They connect OK and can download find, but directory listings take a very, very long time to get. We're talking 20-30 seconds for a list, even if there's only a couple of things in the directory.

The server is using PASSIVE mode and the ports are open on the firewall. Any way to work around this for these users?

I'm sorry, but this looks like a firewall or client issue. I don't think I would be able to fix it.
