Deleted host's folder - how can I recover folder contents?

#1 Post by GillyAnne » 2011-04-08 11:19

Hi, I accidentally deleted my host's entire folder, which contains files for a website. Can I retrieve it from Filezilla's server? Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks much.

With FTP, deleted is gone forever. Hopefully you made a backup, without backups you have a problem.

FileZilla is the tool you use to transfer the files to the FTP server run by your hosting service. FileZilla itself does not run any services like servers. However, if you are lucky your hoster could have made backups, you should contact them.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!
FTP connection problems? Please read Network Configuration.

eEeeUuuRGGGGhhhsss....
this is the sound of me strangling myself.

Thanks Boco, I've already spoken to my host - he does have some files backed-up, but they're not updated, so he has to get to it ASAP to meet client expectations, which means I've just given him extra workload over the weekend. Poor guy.

Cheers,
GillyAnne
