Request: "Desktop" & "My Documents"

#1 Post by xyzzy » 2006-04-20 15:19

I love FileZilla; thanks for all your work on it!

I have one feature suggestion which might be good for Windows XP systems. In the Local Site browsing pane, there is already "My Computer" with all the local drives listed under it. It would be helpful if there were also the standard "Desktop" and "My Documents" entries there, too. These are commonly used folders, and having the standard XP-style entries for them in the broswer pane would make it much easier to use them. In Windows Explorer, "Desktop" is at the top level, with "My Computer" and "My Documents" underneath that, so perhaps FileZilla could show the same structure?

Thanks for reading!

i was *just* logging in so that i can post the same *exact* request.

Actually, I've been using FileZilla for quite a while now, and that is the ONLY complaint I have about it. No shortcuts to make the local folder/drive jump to Desktop or My Documents.

A feature request, please.

thanks.

I have made a patch for fz-2.2.23a. It looks like this~
http://moon.cse.yzu.edu.tw/~s922254/app ... 2223-3.png

The patched source files are here
http://moon.cse.yzu.edu.tw/~s922254/app ... 3a.src.rar

I have compiled it with VisualStudio .NET 2003 successfully,
and you could compile it yourself :p
The site I put patched source codes have a limitation of 200MB/Day,
so I cannot put the compiled binary(590KB) for people to download.

I can host this temporarily if you'd like so people without VS and proper knowledge can check this out. eddan at users.sourceforge.net.

cole945 have sent me the file now so you can all get it from the server at my uni.

Remember to read the readme.txt included in the rar.

Hopefully botg'll include this (provided cole945 approve) in FZ, as so many people are requesting this.

So far the patch looks promising. Just some bugs left I'm ironing out.
