New to filezilla connection problems

#1 Post by alpha22555 » 2006-04-24 08:33

Having a problem that I have not been able to figure out, that is why im here. Basically I host my own FTP server. For some reason when I type my server in "ftp.mydomainname" filezilla will not connect. I get "could not retrieve directory listing" now if I type in my Lan IP "192.168.1.15" filezilla will connect to the FTP server. this problem does not occur with two other ftp clients I have used. "flashfxp" and "wsftp" Is there a setting im missing seams as though filezilla gives you alot of different options and settings. Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks

Copy and paste everything that appears in the message log if you try to connect to your server.

You connect using the FQDN, yet the server returns a local IP address in its reply to the PASV command (192,168,1,15,32,221). Looks like the server is not configured properly.

Please try to disable "Use passive mode" in the setings dialog of FileZilla as workaround.

Thanks for your reply. I understand what your saying. Of course it's going to try and connect to the local IP it realizes the ftp is internal. What im saying is with flashfxp and wsftp the client automatically realizes that and connects. both flash/ws are set to passive mode. I removed passive mode from the site manager and still the same error. I also had a friend connnect to my ftp server with filezilla from an external source and it connected fine. I am just trying to determine why filezilla will not connect inhouse but the other clients do

thanks
