Which version were you using before?

In case you are using any firewall, make sure the new version isn't being blocked.

I'm not sure which version it was before. When I open up Fz I'll be asked to update to newer version and I just select "enter" to do so. I'm not using 3.3.4.1 on a Mac OS X version 16.114

I'm still getting the same response
Error 530
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to server
What can I do?

Mac OS X version 16.114
I'm sorry, but we cannot support versions that haven't been produced, yet. Or do you mean 10.6?

If you get an error 530: That's a server problem and has nothing to do with FileZilla. You often get 530 if your login data isn't accepted anymore by the server. You need to contact the server support in this case.

Hello,

I've been trying to do some research the past several days, with no luck.

I had downloaded Filezilla on my office computer several years ago, and it's been working great! I then downloaded it on my laptop around the same time. I have about 7 websites.

From my office computer, I am able to log into all of those sites without an issue. However, when using my laptop, I can log in to several of my sites, but get this error code on some of the other sites. I just ignored it since my office computer was working just fine.

Recently, I purchased a new office PC to replace my older one. Now, the same thing is true for my office PC. I can log in to some sites, but not my most important site. When I try logging in with my old PC which is sitting next to my new PC, it works just fine, but when I try to log in with my new PC, it gives me this error message. I use the same username and password on both, but still no luck. When I try to use my laptop, I can log into the sites that my new PC gives me errors on, and when vise versa..... It's very strange!

I know you have said that you can not help with this error code, but I honestly don't think that this issue has anything to do with the server since I can log in just fine using Filezilla on one PC, but not the other. It leads me to believe that there may be some sort of setting that I am overlooking, but that still does not explain why I can log into some of the sites, but not the others.

Any guidance or help will be very much appreciated. Many many thanks for all the hard work that you guys put in to developing these great softwares!

Some firewall perhaps?

I have not checked that. To be honest, I think I'm pretty good with computers, and can fix or do almost everything, but a firewall is something I have never, ever touched and don't know what to even do, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out.

But, do you think it would be a firewall issue even if other sites are able to be connected to?

Anything is possible, some firewalls are incredibly broken.

Is there anything unusual in your passwords, like non-ASCII characters?

The only thing I can think of are leading or trailing blanks. These characters often are copy pasted along and count as part of the passwords, although they are invisible to the human eye.

I also encountered this situation when using the installer. You can use the preset.

Hi

I signed up just to create a few posts to hopefully help others experiencing this issue

Problem
--------

->You cannot connect to ANY ftp server via filezilla or any other program
-> You get a 530 incorrect password error after every attempt despite using correct login info

Solution
--------

Go to %AppData%\Filezilla if you're on a PC and double check that the password is correct
Correct it if necessary and try to log in again..

Reason
--------
Bizarrely Encoded / Truncated (an expert on this subject ought to chime in)

So people after 2 days of on/off research I'm glad to have found a solution .. sure its a pain to modify this file each time but it helps a hell of a lot right now and I hope it helps you guys too ..

Latest FileZilla versions now encode passwords using radix64/base64. Not so easy to check anymore.
