Cannot reconnect to remote FTP _after_ launching browser

Hello and thanks for any help you can offer.

Here's my problem:

When I start up my computer I can connect to my FTP site through Filezilla without any problem. It's only AFTER I launch any browser (I.E, or Firefox) that I am then unable to connect again to the FTP site. As soon as I launch my browser I am unable to connect to any FTP site, unless I restart and don't launch my browser again.

Any ideas of where and how I can start to fix this?

After some more tinkering I've noticed that the problem is not associated with the browser, rather Filezilla allows me to connect right after I have booted into Windows. As soon as I close the connection, I cannot reconnect to the FTP site, until I reboot again.

This is also occuring at the DOS prompt - same symptoms there as well when connecting through FTP at the prompt.

it was Windows Firewall...disabled that and now I can connect.
