ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
Hi there,
I'm using FileZilla Client 3.5.3 (Windows 7 x64) and our ftp server is FileZilla Server 0.9.41 (Windows Server 2008 R2).
Everything is connecting and working fine.
But after a longer idle time, i.e. leave the FileZilla Client for about 45 minutes or more alone and then click to change into another directory on the ftp server, the following error comes up:
"Fehler: Verbindung zum Server getrennt: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted
Fehler: Verzeichnisinhalt konnte nicht empfangen werden"
Please help for a fix.

Re: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
There's a firewall in your network that is silently dropping TCP connections without informing the endpoints about that hideous act.

Hi,
thanks for the answer.
Does the windows firewall this?
Or must it be a hardware firewall/appliance?

Hmm, ok, so you don't have experience or knowledge whether or not the windows firewall in Server 2008 R2 could be the source of this problem?
You don't have heard of such behavior in the past and cannot exclude it as an error source..?!

Re: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
I've seen many consumer grade routers do this. Most of them have a very low tcp timeout value.
Haven't seen any software firewalls cause it, but I'm sure there are some that do.

Re: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
Nope, only Microsoft can. They created it.
Since the thing is closed source, it's essentially a black box.

I don't think that blocking edge traversal is part of your problem. Disabling that box could make you more vulnerable.
Have you checked with the Win firewall off (only for test)?

Re: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
Hi,
the problem is, that this is a production server and if I disable the firewall for about 1 hour, I don't think that's a good idea..

Re: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted after longer idle time
Hi,
I tested it and it's not the Windows-Firewall.
The strange thing is, that you get the error message instantly while the Windows-Firewall is completely deactivated.
If the Windows-Firewall is turned on, the error message appears not until after 10 seconds or so.. o.O
