Can't connect to FTP server, all data correct

Hello!

I try to login on my FTP account, but it doesn't work.

Status: Resolving address of web125.login-16.loginserver.ch
Status: Connecting to 178.63.41.150:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Connection closed by server
Error: Could not connect to server

All data is correct (really). When I use the data to login on my HTTP webinterface, it works. I've just had a session with my webhoster, he also had no clue why it doesn't work. He is in another country and he uses the same log in data, and it works for him. Only for my it doesn't work. So the problem must be somewhere at:

- my software
I tried it with Mountain Lion and Vista, I tried it with FileZilla and Dreamweaver. Error message is the same. I deactivated the firewall, no change.

- my hardware, router, etc.
Everything seems to be fine. In my router interface, nothing is blocked. I even opened port 21, but with not effect.

- my country
My webhoster told me, that there shouldn't be any issues with my country. No country is blocked.

Does anybody have an idea what I can try now? Why does it work at my webhoster and not at me? What do I do wrongly? Where can I find help, in case nobody knows a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Can you access the server through https://ftptest.net// ?

Yes, it works.

"Congratulations! Your server is working and assorted routers/firewalls have been correctly configured for plain basic FTP."

For a test, try plugging your computer directly into your modem, thus bypassing your router.

I bypassed the router, but still I have the same error message. I tried it with an iMac and MacOS and with an PC Windows Vista, same error message.

So it must have something to do with my modem, my provider, or my country IP. But still it's very strange, because I could log in about 1 year ago and nothing changed since then.

Sorry, but I had a good laugh. The ''Nothing has changed since then'' statement doesn't hold for even one day, let alone one year. We speak about the Internet, and it changes with light, no, ludicrous speed!
Even your machines have changed, namely updates. Every one of them could have an impact. And you hopefully updated FileZilla, too (firewalls just don't like that, sometimes). Granted, the same problem on multiple machines is unlikely.

The router has been ruled out by yourself.

This strongly looks like a ban or a route problem. :(

So what should I try next?

Do you know if your ISP runs any proxies or VPNs that could have an impact on the route to the server?

They told me, that they haven't. Also they said that there is no block or anything, that should make a problem.
I can log in with my username and password into the webadmin page of my homepage. So Username and Password is working and I'm not blocked. They told me, if they would block anything, I wouldn't be able to login at the webadmin page.

If you can use the HTTP page then an IP block is unlikely (unless you use a proxy for HTTP, of course). I'm out of ideas what could be causing this. It's still possible the FTP server software has your IP in the ban list, then only FTP would be blocked.

Ok thank you anyway for all the information!

I will use a webbased FTP server now, that seems to work.

It could be nothing to do with the firewall. We have a Filezilla FTP server in the cloud which we cannot connect to with Filezilla client but which works fine with other FTP clients like CoreFTP and ClassicFTP. I don't know if there is a server setting we can change, a client setting we can tweak to get Filezilla client working or maybe Filezilla client just is not very good.
