Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time

Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
The problem appeared since the last update.
When I return to a local folder that has a lot of files by clicking ".." or by clicking the folder's name in the tree, the folder's scroll position is always in the middle instead of returning to the top like it was before the update. See image. I jump a lot between folders and need to scroll to the top every time. Please fix this, otherwise I'll simply have to switch to another FTP client.

Navigating to a parent directory jumps to the subdirectory in the list you came from. This was a change requested by users.

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
This is a pointless and counter-intuitive change, that makes the interface less friendly. When a user navigates to any folder, he needs to see the folder's first files at the top. This is how it worked for decades in every possible operating system.
Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
In Explorer, if I go up a level via the backspace key, the very same thing happens.

Why do things have to change for the worse after they've been working without problems...
Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
Try "Toggle synchronized browsing" button at the top right in the toolbar. This kept the view at the top but only for the local folders which is useful for my workflow.

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
Can I raise this again, please?
It is a complete pain to have to manually scroll to the top of the listing every time I navigate.
Enabling synchronisation is not always appropriate.
I appreciate the change was made at users requests, but could there be an option to switch it back?
I always have my folder arranged with most recently modified at the top. If i change folders, that's where I want to be again.

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
Same here. It is tedious to always scroll to position one manually. It's unnatural and inefficient. Please let it scroll automatically (at least optionally).
Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
Pressing the Home or End keys instantly jumps to the top or bottom of the list, like in any other application. No need to scroll (unless you have no keyboard).

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
That is true, Boco, but it is an extra keystroke which is a pain when mouse-based.
It used to work just fine, but was changed to suit the "consistency purists", i.e make it work the same as Windows, even if that's not the best way.
All I want is an option to let it work like it used to. The purists can set the option their way, and those of us with work to do can set it the efficient way.
Is that really too much to ask?

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
It was changed because it correctly mimics the OS behavior, the old behavior was essentially a bug. If you go up one directory in Explorer, it does the very same - the selection stays on the directory you came from.
No idea if that alternative behavior could be re-enabled as an option, that's @botg's decision.

Re: Folder navigation - need to scroll to the top each time
I believe your underlying point is not a valid argument. There is no imperative that it should "mimic the OS". It is not Explorer, it is a dedicated FTP program.
The original functionality resulted in a better workflow for FTP users.
Many applications do things "better" than the OS does

I agree with mesdale as well
Filezilla doesn't have to follow Windows in it's behavior.
If you are in a session, and you have chosen to scroll to the top of a Filename list, once you switch to a different folder and go back to the original folder, that same view should persist.
It's not as though you closed out Filezilla altogether (as in Windows Explorer, it often doesn't remember on re-opening). Filezilla can be smarter and more efficient than Windows any day!
