How to move a folder

#1 Post by satimis » 2013-10-11 01:37

Hi all,

Server - Godaddy hosting
Client - local PC

I have no problem copying a folder on server to another location with drag-and-drop (mouse). But I couldn't discover moving a folder to a new location. Usually on pressing [Alt] key on drag-and-drop while releasing the key it'll ask whether "copy" or "move". But this trick dosen't work on FileZilla. Pls help.

Thanks

FTP does not support remote file copy, drag&drop where both the drag and the drop operation are on a remote file/directory always move.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.

I tried moving a folder (not file) from one location to another on remote server. It just copied the folder to the new location, NOT moving it.

Remote server - Godaddy server (hosting)
folderA on domainA (wesiteA)
to move folderA to root(webroot) with drag_n_drop

It just copied folderA to webroot. The original folderA is still on domainA

That shouldn't even be possible. Maybe that stuff on the server is hardlinked together. Other than that, no idea...
