FZ won't launch on Kubuntu 14.04

Have never had this problem before. I did a fresh install from the packages, ver. 3.7.3, to try to fix. No go.

Upon launch, I can see the process in my system monitor, but it quickly goes into "disk sleep" (not sure what that means), and never comes out.

Given this:

I have to wonder if 14.04 doesn't agree with this somewhat old compile.

On the Kubuntu forum - (https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthrea ... n-t-launch) - an admin. reports a similar but not identical problem with 14.04 on a 64 bit machine.

UPDATE: I just tried the Debian binary. It does exactly the same thing.

I anyone knows why I might be having this problem I'd appreciate a comment. Thanks!
