This doesnt work for me. A screen comes up titled Check For Updates, it goes on to say that it cant tell what version it is because automatic updates are turned off. It suggests turning automatic updates on, doh! I turned on the debug menus, restarted, and tried the clear autoupdate data, doesn't work, still pops up the nag.

You are running an obsolete build (several months old). The nag screen appears due to the sheer age, and it cannot be disabled (except by updating).

Updating is a quick and simple blink of an eye.

Well unfortunately that eye belongs to our company's IT who never do anything in a blink. You know security and all.

Not updating is the opposite of security.
