Can't log in

#1 Post by uic88tz » 2015-05-19 14:37

This is very frustrating!! I am not familiar with any of this stuff :-( I had no problem updating my church's website before this update. I was even excited that I learned enough code that I could change it through notepad instead of dreamweaver, now this happens. Is there a chat room or another way I can contact FileZilla with my problem? I have past events on the home page that I really want to change, but I can't get logged into.

Oops sorry, I guess that would help.

I did the online FTP tester, which is good.

Your server is working and assorted routers/firewalls have been correctly configured for plain basic FTP as performed by this test. However there have been warnings about compatibility issues, not all users will be able to use your server.

There's a firewall on your end of the connection interfering with the connection.

My fault, I misread your earlier log. The firewall is actually server-side. The firewall isn't configured correctly for FTP over TLS. You didn't test FTP over TLS on https://ftptest.net/ but only insecure plaintext FTP.

Timeouts are usually caused by some router and/or firewall that is interrupting the connection.
Try uninstalling all firewalls and plug your computer directly into your modem, thus bypassing the router.

I am plugged directly into the modem.

And in case you need to see this, here is the other test.....

Warning: Selected port (21) is not the default port (990) of the selected protocol.
Status: Resolving address of 69.195.124.61
Status: Connecting to 69.195.124.61

Error: TLS handshake failed: An unexpected TLS packet was received.
Make sure your server allows FTP over TLS and has a valid certificate configured.
In case the server is behind a firewall or NAT router, make sure they allow FTP over TLS. The network traffic of the TLS handshake and the TLS protected connection does not look like FTP at all. Stateful firewalls and NAT routers may not like it.
Perhaps your server speaks a different protocol? Try using explicit FTP over TLS.

What about the server? As it's a server-side problem, your server administrator or server hosting provider needs to check the server's firewall.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what that means, lol. Server, my DSL provider? Or Bluehost, the website host? I think you mean my website host, but I want to make sure.

Website host. The same people usually run the FTP server infrastructure, too.
No support requests over PM! You will NOT get any reply!!!

Hi, Ive been using Filezilla for a long time. after upgrading to 3.11.0.1 or 3.11.0.2 from 3.11.0.0 I can not connect to the server anymore. I have disabled my firewalls and even changed the ftp type to use only (plain ftp). I still receive the error ...eacces permission denied... I have tried to review different forum topics and the bug reports and can not fix the issue. I went back to version 3.11.0.0 in order for it to work. I am not sure what has changed between verion .0 and .1 that would make it stop working. I have been connecting to my ftp server for over 5 years with filezilla. Any help would be appreciated.
I forgot to add, that even checking for a new version within filezilla fails with the .1 or .2 versions. looking at the log file says it couldnt connect to the filezilla servers. I then did a network wizard set up which failed as well with the newer versions. Once I reverted back to .0 everything works..

@cctest: EACESS means that a firewall is actively disallowing FileZilla network access.

I turned off windows firewall and my router firewall. After turning everything off on my end, and I have .1 or .2 installed, when I check for a new version of filezilla, I receive a notification that I cannot connect to the filezilla servers. I don have anymore firewalls to turn off. Is it on your end?

Ok, seems to be working now and I have no idea why. Here is everything that happened.
I upgraded from .0 to .1 - everything stopped working, could not ftp or check for new updates
I checked on the filezilla site and noticed there was a .2 available - I downloaded and installed - still nothing worked.
Specifically added filezilla to windows firewall allowed list
I researched on this forum and turned off all my firewalls, rebooted - still didnt work.
Tried using plain ftp - still didnt work
Tried the network configuration wizard, ftp test - still didnt work
Tried running as administrator - still didnt work
I reverted back to .0 - it worked
I turned my firewalls back on - still worked
I was going to send a screen shot showing how I couldnt check for updates so I did the following
I was on .0 and did a check for updates.
Filezilla found the .1 update that was on my system and updated.
Program restarted and I did another check for updates and it found the .2 on my system and installed.
I did a final check for updates and it came back saying I was up to date - working.
I tested ftp - all working
I checked my firewalls to confirm I didnt forget to turn them back on and they were all on.
I am currently at the latest .2 version and my firewalls are on and everything is working - ftp and check for new version
The only thing I didnt do was try to ftp with .1, but since everything is working now, I am not going to test that use case.
I am really confused why it didnt work and now it does, but thank you for all your help

Just updated to 3.11.0.2 and am having the same problems everyone else is reporting. I use Norton 360 and Covenant Eyes - neither of which will be uninstalled or considered to blame for Filezilla not connecting to my AWS servers.

Is there a fix coming or must I move away from a trusted friend? I think you need to allow previous version to be downloaded so we can all get on with our work. Is this possible?
