Filezilla 2.2.8a and PureFTPD 1.0.20 with SSL?

Anybody have any luck with this combo? I can connect to PureFTPD 1.0.20 with SmartFTP via Explicit SSL/TLS but once I try FileZilla I get a "Can't establish SSL connection' or a 'Can't list files' error.

pure-ftpd protects with TLS only the data channel, while FileZilla expect both transmission and data.
