Check for updates Never does not work
The settings for automatic update option "Never" is ignored and the client always checks for updates on startup, and in fact it automatically downloads new updates. This behavior is new within the last year or so. I'm using the Windows 64bit client and have tried versions 3.19.0, 3.16.1, and 3.10.3. How far back should I look for a version where this settings works? Is there an archive of older versions somewhere?
Re: Check for updates Never does not work
It does work, always did, just not the way you would expect it.
You are setting the Update Check to "Never". Updates available that have been already found earlier will still be brought to your attention, since they are cached. To stop that your need to need to edit FileZilla.xml and remove the cached information.
No further help since disabling updates and not running the latest version is a scenario that we do not support at all.

Re: Check for updates Never does not work
Why don't you just update? Outdated versions are unsupported.
There's no reason not to update.
There's no reason not to update.

Re: Check for updates Never does not work
That's not true. This is a recurring problem: the LTS version of Ubuntu is not updated for a full two years, and in that time, FileZilla becomes unusable (this has been addressed in other threads).botg wrote:Why don't you just update? There's no reason not to update.
So, after the point where FileZilla becomes unusable, we cannot update FileZilla until the next version of Ubuntu LTS.
With the current version Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, FileZilla has been usable only up to 3.27.1. We cannot update until Ubuntu 18.04 LTS comes out.
Re: Check for updates Never does not work
The problem seems to be libpng. FileZilla wants version 16, while the LTS releases (Debian 8 based AFAIK) only have version 12.

You can always compile from source.

Re: Check for updates Never does not work
Yeah, that's rather technical for me. I'll do it if there's a bug that I cannot live with, but otherwise I'll stick to the latest working version until the next version of Ubuntu LTS.botg wrote:You can always compile from source.
