pictures are not showing up properly

Since new windows 10 my pictures under wp-content/theme/roots/img
are all scramble code on note pad instead of picture. Help!!

You need to open these files with an image viewer or editor, not a text editor.

Before updates I could open when
You click on view picture and see it.
Now this is what I see. Bug in program?

Try checking your system's filetype associations. You could alternatively configure a custom association in FileZilla's settings dialog.

Before updates I could open in notepad. Which one do you recommend.

Opening images in notepad has always displayed the text as shown in the screenshot, even before the update.

The problem is that Windows Photo Viewer is no more available by default in Windows X. Instead, they want you to use that crappy Metro Photos App. Looks like FileZilla cannot use it.

The above linked post has a tutorial on how to restore Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10 (copy the URL to the Browser address bar and press RETURN). Once it is the default viewer again, images should show like before.
