login problem

#1 Post by satimis » 2017-01-01 07:48

Hi all,

Godaddy server, webhosting

I haven't login Godaddy server with FileZilla for long time. It worked seamlessly before.

Just tried about an hour ago to login Godaddy server with;
IP address
username
password
Quickconnect

After having tried about half an hour finally I can login after accepting the security certification.
usual warning:
Error: Critical Error
Error: Could not connect to server

Then I closed FileZilla

Start again. This time I couldn't connect Godaddy server with the same warning displayed. Even in one occasion it pop-up a security certificate. I accepted it. Still failed.

Please help

Regards
satimis

What else does it say in the log, ie. the reason why the error is critical.

Previously it worked without problem but already 3 years ago. I haven't changed username nor password. Today I succeeded only once. I don't know why.

Wrong username and/or password for this host. Please double-check your login credentials, watch our for character case and leading/trailing whitespace. Contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for further assistance with your login credentials.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.

I got it done as follows;

1. login Godaddy cPanel
2. -> FTP Accounts

I couldn't find the FTP account used in the past. There are several FTP accounts created there (I supposed they are created by Godaddy)

3. Use one the FTP account displayed
4. Change Password

and logout.

That is not all. Now Godaddy use the IP address of the hosting domain as the "Host" not the same one used in the past.

I have been using Godaddy service for more than 10 years residing in Hong Kong. Before I conneted Godaddy server in USA. I suppose they are now running their servers in Hong Kong which add some trouble to me.

Thanks again for your advice.

Hi botg,

Still I have something unable to resolve.

After login Godaddy FTP server I couldn't find /public_html directory. Nor the directories of the domain/subdomain websites. They were installed on /public_html/domain or subdomain.

On FileZilla it only shows the root directory of the hosting domain.

Make sure directory filters are disabled in case you have enabled them. If directories that should be on the server are not on the server, either re-upload them or if that's not possible, contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for assistance.

Hi,

Finally I sort out the problem using;

IP address of the hosting domain
username (for login Godaddy cPanel)
password (for login Godaddy cPanel)

/public_html directory is displayed on FileZilla, with the data of all domain/subdomain websites shown on this directory.

Godaddy live-chat is very difficult to connect. In many occasion I have to try for hours and hours before getting connected. Their local help center in Hong Kong is permanently engaged with service provided from 9.00am to 6.00pm (Monday to Friday) only.

I'm the administrator, in case of problem encountered most the time either seeking advice/help from relevant forums on Internet or searching Internet for suggestion. I'm not aware when Godday made this change neither I was informed in writing.

Thanks again for your suggestion.

To solve the problem with FTP, just use a different service, entirely? Clever... :hammer:
