I am trying to connect to an FTP server. The login credentials are correct, but I get this....

Status: Disconnected from server
Status: Connecting to x.x.x.x:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Initializing TLS...
Status: Verifying certificate...
Status: TLS connection established.
Command: USER administrator
Response: 331 Password required for administrator
Command: PASS **********
Response: 530 Login or password incorrect!
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

Also tried using SFTP on port 22..

The server disagrees and reject your login data.

- Might be a typo somewhere.
- Copy-Paste problems, like additional leading/trailing blanks.
- Username might be case sensitive, password is always.
- Might be even the wrong server you're connecting to.

In case your login credentials are correct, does the server know they are correct?

I have same issue, I can connect to the server via RDP, I have configured FTP backup server in FortiGate firewall however it's taking the backup of config but giving username and password incorrect error.
this same FTP server is configured for another device back up and working fine, the issue is only for me

Kindly suggest how to resolve it. Thanks!

Yes, I believe the server is correct because the other device backup running on the same server and works fine

Then either the other device uses different credentials, or a malicious firewall is injecting fake packets into the connection.

I had created a new user that was not working, i used Filezilla admin user it worked. dont know why it was sending error for the new user. Thanks ANyway...
