Hiding "Local Site" Pane

#1 Post by Ioann » 2007-10-31 19:01

Hello, i'm using filezilla client 3.2.0.1 on windows platform and love it. But since i make massive use of the drag & drop features i would like to hide the "Local Site" pane... is that currently possible? I didn't spot any relevant option but i still hope it could be done =)
Thank you in advance,
Ioann

I second that request.
Some people just need a simple Filezilla server pane and a windows explorer to drag & drop in between.

ie. SmartFTP's layout

Just pull the panel so the Local Site is almost closed, no? It's not perfectly elegant but certainly does the trick.

That's a good temporary solution, I did no even think of it. :)

Lots of thanks to the FileZilla development team for their work :

On my computer, I have verified that "drag & drop" from and to a "Windows Explorer" window works correctly.

As jesus2099 wrote, Starbuck's solution of "pulling the panel so the Local Site is almost closed" is only temporary.

I suggest that in "Settings / Interface / Layout", the listbox should have a "Remote Site only" choice available (or there should be a "Hide Local Site" checkbox).

Best regards.

I'd like to bump this suggestion. It's pretty old, but I just founding it by searching because I was looking for this feature. I think it's even more relevant these days because more people are working with smaller screens and because indexing and third party launchers like Quicksilver, Launchy and Gnome-Do have made file system navigation much faster than doing so through a simple tree structure.

Yes, please do eliminate that left-side local site pane. It's a distracting waste of space. It is not possible to shrink that pane smaller than about 10 characters wide, so it remains visually distracting and I assume it is also an unnecessary use of CPU processing.

What I *would* like, it to have a left-side pane for the remote directory tree (vertical pane, not a horizontal pane at the top like FZ currently offers). In other words, I'd like those panels to follow the normal layout for applications on personal computers.

This is very needed. The local pane is a sore thumb in my screen - since I use the local explorer window where I already have navigated to all my files and I know how to find my files. Please allow hiding completely the Filezilla Local Pane.
