Filezilla asks for a password that I don't have

Hello,
I wonder if you can help. Due to a change of PC, I had to reinstall Filezilla. I'm now surprised by the change of the procedure when trying to connect to a server.
In fact a popup asks to enter a main password to decrypt the password of the server ?? But I don't have such a password ! Is there any solution to that.

In the previous version on my old PC, I could give login and password in the configuration of the connection without having to re-enter these infos each time I wanted to connect.
Is there any workaround ?

PS : my english is not the best ...

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have lost your master passwords than you cannot recover any password protected with the master password. Your only choice is to reset or disable the master password in the settings dialog, wiping all stored passwords in the process.

Yes me to.
Asking me suddenly out of blue for a *password that I do not have*

What the hell
Just irritating.

Even more irritating is a crap post that ends with "problem solved" - thanks bud for letting us know how.

I have no memory of setting such a password. I have used the defaults that I use in this situation and none work. A bug perhaps, then?

There must be some kind of system / work flow to setup these passwords.
Has someone the link for instructions on same?

The master password functionality does not enable itself. It is only activated if the user actively enables it and provides the password to use.

If it is enabled, it means you, or somebody else using your computer, has enabled it.

No offense botg, but I didn't change any settings or enable a master password and I'm having exactly the same issue. That sounds like a bug to me.

If you didn't enable the functionality yourself, could your coworkers, friends or family have done this on your computer?

hey everyone,

i have the same problems as described above.
i installed the lastes version of FZ to my win 7 pr (64) machine yesterday and am sure that i didn't setup any passowrd for accessing the server.
so when i wanted to start it today admin-interface asked me for a password and denies entering none. so i can't access my own FZserver.

and i am absolutely sure that noone else was playing around with my computer.

so it sounds like a bug to me as well.

anyways... is there a way to access my settings again? or do i need to throw them away just to set them up anew?

thanks for your help
cheers
jimmy

ummm no.
must be something different here.

i re-installed the FZ yesterday and was adding a password... and it worked like a charm.
but after rebooting today it's impossible for me to contact my server.

i had it installed to be started manually (because i don't need it on a daily basis)... and when i do start it it asks me if i really want to start it. "yes" - but within the taskmanager the process just disappears right after i agreed.

any hints?
