Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,0,252,125,12).
Status: Server sent passive reply with unroutable address. Using server address instead.
Wrong server configuration, it sends the wrong IP. Please check your server configuration for Passive mode. Network Configuration

I managed to solve the problem. The port forwarding for the range was not configured properly on the router.

Thanks for your help!

The server allows to enter an IP for passive mode but only numerals, not the URL of the DNS service I use. Leaving it blank means it will then start using the actual external IP address of the server as the message log indicates. As I said, my port forwarding had messed up. Fixed that and everything is working again as it did before. Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. Weeks of working fine then suddenly refuses to upload and times out the connection. I really really don't need this right now.

Was a solution found for this? I have my connection settings set up exactly like they were before and my host tells me they can't see any problems.

EDIT: I switched to active and it worked. I'm confused why it suddenly decided to be such an arse.

Excellent, as I suspected changing the connection to active was a temporary solution and it has inexplicably stopped working.

Please check your firewall(s), especially after an update.

I was having a problem similar to this and I ended up having to switch from passive to active. Also, I had to allow port 21 on my firewall.

If passive mode fails you might want to contact the server administrator so that he fixes the server.

The problem is your firewalls (for people with routers). I looked over this entire topic and tried everything. I have been using Filezilla for a long time and it finally just stop retrieving my directory list and disconnecting. I finally went to my firewall and apparently, it was blocking it for some random reason. Make sure yout firewall isn't blocking your routers connection (especially if no other "fix" is working from other peoples suggestions.) Goodluck.

Haug.

 Seems that I have found the topic which is aimed at the very heart of my problem. I'm using WinSCP (URL: http://winscp.net/eng/docs/introduction) which is an open source free SFTP client and FTP client for Windows. I have the latest version (I think) and I'm using it on 3 computers. The problem ocured only on my laptop, and only for one connection.

The message is the same:

Failed to retreive directory listing?!*+?'=9%&*

Why on earth that happend to me? Does anybody wants to buy my laptop?

We do not support WinSCP here.

 Well...first time in the desert...which way to Vegas?

Seems...when I turned off shields everything works like it should. Still bothers me why on the other one computer where the same avast is installed there is no need for turning off shields.

It might be some kind of SF problem...

I will bother you no more...still...what is FileZilla?

Count three dunes, then left.

I guess that would be a question to avast! support.

FileZilla is an Open Source FTP client, FileZilla Server is an Open Source FTP server. This site is the home of both FileZilla products. WinSCP is a competitor to FileZilla, so you will certainly understand that we don't support it here. WinSCP has a support forum at their site, and I know avast! has one, too.

:D Thanks...but they swapped old slot machines with the electronic rubbish...I don't know how to use them...and I think that they are all fraud.

If WinSCP and FZ are open source...how they can be competitors? Shouldn't you developers make some agreement and combine your efforts?

I'm also using FreeCommander...which is basicaly file manager with some FTP functionality. I'm going to read something about FZ as soon as I find some time.
