Files not opening in helper application

#1 Post by aka-ra » 2018-08-14 13:07

I'm using textwrangler (5.5.2) on OSX 10.3.5 to open files.

After updating to FileZilla 3.35.2 files no longer automatically open in TextWrangler...

We do not support OS X 10.3.5, FileZilla requires OS X 10.9 or later.

Nothing has changed in the way files are opened in recent times. Which version of FileZilla have you used before?

I am unsure of the previous versions I have used. To be honest - if it works - I don't tend to take much note of version numbers of software. Life's too short!

All I can say was it was working before the recent upgrade and now it is not.

Is there a repository of previous releases?

I found I am able to right click files and view/edit them. I then looked in the settings and found that the action to apply when double clicking files was 'transfer'.

This setting was changed by the update. It has now been changed back to view/edit and all is working as before.

Your support sucks! No response in 24hrs and no suggestion to check if the setting had changed and where to look.

I have to say I completely disagree with you regarding the support. You got support from the primary developer FFS. And they often respond to stuff that's completely unrelated to FileZilla.

Since the option you are talking about is not the default configuration you probably reset it when you installed the update.

FileZilla uses whatever the default action for that file type is. Looks like Libre Office claimed the association to the file type, you simply need to change it back.

I've changed the default "open with" to gedit but filezilla still opens it with libre office!
