Memory leak FileZilla 3.36.0 on macOS Sierra

#1 Post by Riknuytten » 2018-09-01 21:39

I am a nebbe on this forum, so excuse me for my unfamiliarity with the etiquette.
When running FileZilla 3.36.0 on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 I run into a memory leak when copying a website of about 20000 files, 1GB. After copying About 5000 files memory consumption was growing to over 4 GB. I can see it grow during the operations. Stopping FileZilla shows all memory being released. Starting FileZilla starts with about 400KB of memory. I have attached 3 screen shots with the evidence.
This memory leak did not happen in previous versions, in my opinion.

Thanks for considering!

I managed to reproduce the issue. Unfortunately it is a bug in macOS itself, not a bug in FileZilla. See http://www.openradar.me/38232046 for what little public information is available on this.

This appears to be fixed in the upcoming macOS 10.14

This could be a MacOs problem. However don't you think it is strange when i use filezilla pro vs Transmit the memory of filezilla goes to (in this case) 5GB and the memory of transmit FTP stays on 200,8MB.

This morning my RAM went to 13GB

When I use filezilla now I cannot work any more on my Mac (late 2013).

Well I have knowledge of PHP an Javascript. SO what do i know  :D :?

Different programs use different functionality provided by the OS. If the leak is one part of the operating system only those programs using that specific part is experiencing the memory leak.

thanks for the info!

Today I had more luck with filezilla... overnight the RAM used is only 218MB! I did not know what happened, no updates etc. ;-)
