Rndom '550 Access is denied' error

#1 Post by caseygee » 2018-10-07 17:06

Sorry if this has been answered before. I couldn't see it anywhere.

I am downloading the contents of a a folder/directory on my website server (full of pdf files) to my local hard drive. Two thirds of them download fine, but others get this error. This is what I see in top window: Status: Starting download of /bla/bla/bla/abc.pdf - Status: Transfer successful, transferred 123 bytes in 1 second. This continues for a while then: Status: Starting download of /bla/bla/bla/zzz.pdf - Status: Command Port 192,168,bla,bla,bla - Response: 200 PORT Command successful. - Command RETR zzz.pdf - Response: 550 Access denied. - Error: Critical File Transfer Error. Then the subsequent files download normally until the next file it doesn't like. Any ideas please?

Either the permissions of these files are set to not allow you to download them or, if it's a Windows' based server, some other program running on the server machine has the file already opened exclusively.

Thanks botg. My host checked the permissions for me. He is suggesting it's because there are more than 10,000 files in the folder/directory. Are you aware of a limit?

There isn't any arbitrary limit in any FileZilla software. Of course, there are still theoretical and practical limits set by the environment, but they are way off the scale to hit them anytime soon.

That's bullshit. There's nothing special about the number 10000. Retort by asking them whey they have intentionally configured an artificial limit of 10000.
