Large 13gb website with missing files

At the time of this writing I must have tried to download and backup my site at least 15-20 times with no success. The site is very large, approximately 13 Gigs.

Here's my issues:

Want to make a full backup of my site but files get missed and nothing in the log to say that there was an error.

I don't know what has and hasn't been downloaded ?

After reading this forum I'm sensing it could be something to do with filters, for this reason I hope to do the following :

View> directory listing filters> click disable all, edit filter rules and clear everything making sure nothing is here and no rules exist.

Apart from adding my credentials through the site manager and selecting everything and ctrl + A, download i haven't messed with anything else.

Could this be happening due to the size of the site??

If there is anything else I should do please can you advise me.

Which files are missing? If you download the data repeatedly, are it always the same files missing or are it different files each time?

Not too sure but in the past i've tried doing it again skipping the files that were already installed but still some were missed on the second attempt. I only know that its missing files cos the last attempt missed the index file, previous attempts the size was drastically different and in some cases I could see which files were missed.

Same problem here. FileZilla mises a lot of files and folders when I download and upload them. I couldn't see any errors and even spoke to my hosting people. They suggested using a different client but I like FileZilla. Any clues?

Is it always the same files or different ones each time? Do you also experience this with a different host operating by someone else?
