Is Key File with User and Password possible for SFTP

#1 Post by KenHou » 2018-12-03 17:47

I am getting a password request as expected from this particular host. I don't get a popup to enter a pwd, so the connection fails. I can only enter a host, keyfile and user in the site manager setting.

Status: Connecting to test-###########.com:6522...
Response: fzSftp started, protocol_version=8
Command: keyfile "D:\keyfile.ppk"
Command: open "###-####@test-#########.com" 6522
Command: Trust new Hostkey: Yes
Command: Pass:
Error: Authentication failed.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

Solution sent to me from partner:

I was able to connect to the FTP server without using the File > Site Manager two-step workaround you showed me yesterday. I first uploaded the private keys to Edit > Settings > SFTP. Then I plugged in all of the information into the QuickConnect toolbar (Host: sftp://xxxxx.com, Username: Your ID here, Password: [password], Port: 6522). This worked flawlessly. To confirm that it's not because of the steps we took yesterday, I installed FileZilla on a VM that hasn't connected before and used this method and it also worked there. Might be worth trying this with other implementations?

This also works if site manager uses SFTP/User/Password option and has an uploaded key file.
