files will not edit

I log into my server fine, it shows the files, they open, but if I right click on any and try to edit, it says "critical error, could not connect to server" but I'm already logged in with correct password etc.

Does your server by chance disallow multiple connections?

Note for the server administrator: It's 2018, these days servers can handle tens of thousands of connections.
