Upgrade to current version and Filezilla still states there is an upgrade

#1 Post by jnichols » 2018-12-19 13:50

Greetings. I have a client that recently upgraded to the latest version of FileZilla. Under Help>about, it shows that it is 3.39.0. However when executing the program, a box pops up stating that there is an upgrade available and downloads the update every time she opens the program. We have tried uninstalling the program and re-installing the full version. Attempted to install the previous version and updating the program after that. In both cases the update popup still appears every time she opens the program. What am I missing here? Any Ideas?

You have multiple versions of FileZilla installed in multiple different locations. You keep updating one copy only to later on start another outdated copy again.

Please remove all outdated copies of FileZilla from your machine.

I had this happen to me...

It was because the update was installing the 64 bit version, but my shortcut was pointing to the 32 bit.

Which is odd because all my updates had been installed automatically.

Happens if a system or Registry cleaner removes the FileZilla installation information (especially the installation path) from the Registry. Then, FileZilla installs into the default location (Program Files (x86) for 32bit and Program Files for 64bit) at the next update.

Note that 32bit versions are being phased out.
