Can I choose to make an insecure connection?

#1 Post by lpress » 2019-08-09 17:46

There used to be the option of making an insecure connection to a server that did not support TLS, but it seems to be gone. Is there a client setting that will allow me to connect to a server that does not support TLS if I trust it?

Site Manager - General - Encryption - "Only use plain FTP (insecure)" for "Protocol: FTP"?

If the FTP server does not support FTP over TLS, the default setting is fine. Server rejects FTPS Explicit, FileZilla falls back to plain FTP (after a warning).

Only if the FTP is lying about its FTPS support and pretending to do so, only to fail later on, then you have to force plain (and kick the server operator into the guts for being stupidly incompetent).
