A way to customize the toolbar in the Mac client?

Many apps let you right-click on the toolbar to customize it by adding icons for features. Is that possible in FileZilla?

No. From what I know the WxWidgets component used in FileZilla doesn't support it.

Did you try it (don't have a Mac)?

Yes, I tried the standard way, which is right-clicking on the current toolbar. But there was no response.
