Unexcepted character

#1 Post by file » 2019-12-24 06:38

Hi,

I use Filezilla for a long time.

In these days, when I tried to upload a php file via Filezilla, it was adding an unexcepted character like "<" or "a", "v" etc. in php file automatically. And the file gives an error because of that. What is the reason of this? It wasn't like that before.

Thanks in advance.

FileZilla does not modify file contents. A third-party program must be adding these characters.

I uplod zip files and extract it via cpanel, there is no problem.

But I upload php directly file without zip, there is some extra character in the file.

May it be about transfer type? There are three transfer types on Filezilla which are Auto, ASCII, Binary. Which one should I use?

Data Types only affect line endings, they do not change anything at other places.

Transferring files as Binary (aka Image type) never changes anything at all. Try to transfer as Binary.
