Filzezilla Pro unable to connect sftp

There is something really funky going on with Filezilla Pro
I used to be able to login to my webserver using SFTP - used it frequently before reinstalling my PC

Today I loaded my site profile and tried to login but was rejected
Tested access using Putty, everything appears to be working, logged-in no issues

Deleted and recreated my site connection profile, same thing - Authorization Failed
I'm stumped!

Just to update, I used an app called "Pure Text" by Steve Miller, pasted the password and everything worked.
I don't know what the cause of this was, though 'm beginning to suspect Windows may be messing with character encoding
