Unable to Connect (XP SP2, ZoneAlarm, Linksys)

#1 Post by pjkbb » 2004-10-21 03:52

I can't connect using FileZilla.

I am using Windows XP SP2, but I have the XP firewall turned off

I am using ZoneAlarm, but I added FileZilla as a program and gave it full access

I am connecting through a linksys wireless connection, and I have selected Passive Mode under the FIleZilla firewall settings

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Please read the FAQ in the client support forum.

I went through the client FAQ again, but I must still be missing something.

I also tried to go through other posts which is where I saw references to SP2, ZoneAlarm, and linksys, but something is still not right.

The debug trace looks as follows:

Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(772): OnConnect(11004) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003ac824
Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(834): DoClose(0) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003ac824
Trace: FtpControlSocket.cpp(3502): ResetOperation(4100) OpMode=1 OpState=-1 caller=0x003ac824
Error: Unable to connect!

Sorry for being so dense - I'm sure there is something obvious I must be missing but I can't quite figure it out.

Any help appreciate. Thanks!

Sorry guys, I'm getting the same trouble here. I also run FlashFXP and it isn't having any problems. Since SP2, it seems that FileZilla can't connect very fast, and the queue times out. Help!

It's not the fault of FileZilla. I'm using XP SP2 as well on multiple computers in different configurations. I've experienced no problems related to SP2.
Please check your system configuration.

I figured there was something in configuration, but any idea where to look? I haven't installed or updated anything other than the SP2 and subsequent hotfixes. FZ was working one day, and quit the next. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and still a no go.

Linksys?

#7 Post by pjkbb » 2004-10-22 19:04

It appears that I cannot connect from behind the linksys router.

I have no problem connecting from my PC which is directly connected to my DSL (also running XP SP2 and ZoneAlarm).

I've tried using FileZilla's passive mode, but the problem remains. Are there any other settings that could be changed to enable FileZilla to connect from behind linksys?

Thanks!

Passive mode should work in this case (as long as the remote server does support it). Did you try to connect to some reliable servers known to work? (like ftp.kernel.org)
I've no idea why it doesn't work for you.
