Network Wizard problem

#1 Post by Max » 2008-01-07 15:11

First time using FileZilla (or any FTP). I read the wiki, and followed the advice to set up the network wizard, but I got:

Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.0.4.1
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP <censored>
Response: 200 OK
PREP 57434
Response: 200 Using port 57434, data token 375873568
PORT 79,180,11,53,224,90
Response: 200 PORT command successful
LIST
Response: 150 opening data connection
Response: 503 Failure of data connection.
Server sent invalid reply.
Connection closed

I turned off my firewall, still the same problem.
I looked in the forum, and the best answer there was to check the network configuration guide.
I did that, not helpful.

I need a little help here.
Do I really need to set up the network configuration? or can I just start working?
If I do need to set it up, what is the problem and how do I solve it?

Thanks

I had the same problem. Furthermore I don't know much about the ins and outs of FTP.

I tried several things which all failed, so I tried goFTP.

It worked first time without switching off my firewall (Zone Alarm) or messing around with ports.

I am, however, using a NAT router.

Hope that is some help

Same problem over here.
Configured everything as described in the configuration guide, still doesn't work.
I'm running Filezilla server on Windows Vista home edition, Filezilla on Windows XP professional.
The server is running behind a NAT-router, I configured forwarding port 21 (even tried 2021 while changing the listening port in Filezilla server because it might occur that my provider blocks ports < 1024).
Have a dynamic ip-address, use dyndns, translation is correct! I can see 'Resolving IP-Address for .... / connecting myipd-address'
Experimented with the passive mode settings and custom ports (as described in the configuration guide).
Disabled firewall-protection (Norton 360)
No matter what I do, can't connect. Not even from my workstation within my home network (using the ip-address of filezilla server).

Network wizard:
Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.0.4.1
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP <censored>
Response: 200 OK
PREP 50074
Response: 200 Using port 50074, data token 1512029569
PORT xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Response: 502 Port mismatch. Tainted by router or firewall
PORT command tainted by router or firewall
Connection closed

I'm also running Vtiger CRM. I manage to connect from the internet (so port-forwarding does what it has to do).

What else is there to be configured?

I tried Filezilla again having got success with goFTP, with the intention of using the settings from goFTP and inserting them into Filezilla.

There was not much to glean from goFTP other than to type in a host address, anonymous as Username and 21 as port, and what do you know it connected as soon as I pressed the Quickconnect button!
Again this was without switching off my firewall (ZoneAlarm) or opening any ports whilst running in XP.

So using the Network Configuration Wizard did not work, but keying the information in directly and pressing the Quickconnect key did!

Seems to make a mockery of the Network Configuration Wizard? Or am I missing something?
