Failed transfers delete files

#1 Post by jhaber3 » 2020-10-29 15:04

I get failed transfers only a minority of times, but often enough to be a bit annoying. Each time, FileZilla opens a current list of uploaded files in the right panel, so it's definitely making a connection. So I wonder what's going wrong. Even stranger is a further indication that it's connecting online.

That is, a failed transfer deletes those very files from online. If I try again right away, even after closing and restarting FileZilla, I'll get another failure, so there's nothing to be done but wait awhile and, sometimes, rebooting. In the interim, any links to those files will be dead links, and any images I was trying to replace will be blanks in whatever uploaded files remain. What's going on? Thanks.

What does it say in the message log in case of transfer failure?

I shall have to hold off on a better reply until the next failure. I didn't know of a message log, and it looks blank at this point.

Here's what I just got. Again, please bear in mind that I do not get unsuccessful transfers consistently. Only a minority of times. Bear in mind, too, that while I can wait, try again, and given enough time succeed, there's also the puzzle of, in the interim, the deleted online file. Thanks you!

This is very strange, permission errors shouldn't come after a 1yz intermediate reply to a transfer command. In addition, a STOR command rejected for permission reasons resulting in a deleted file suggests that there is something very wrong with the server itself.

Please contact your server administrator or server hosting provider for further assistance.

Thanks. Looks hopeless, then. I can't imagine the ISP knowing the app at all, so they'll punt too, back to you.
