Directories reported as empty (Local and remote site)

#1 Post by Errol » 2020-11-24 05:37

Good evening.

I have used FileZilla for at least 10 years to access my ftp site, without problems. However, following the recent upgrade to V 3.51.0 (although not clear if that caused the problem), my saved login and password did not work. I refreshed the login details with my ftp site provider, and now I can access the ftp site, and can see the directory structure on both the local and remote site. However, every directory shows as empty with a message "Empty directory. (nnn objects filtered)" where nnn is the number of files in that directory.

I have checked the Directory listing filters and Windows security settings to no avail. The files definitely exist - I can find them using the Search function, but cannot get them to display.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Errol

What is if you disable all filters for a test?

Yep - I tried this as part of my check of the filter settings. No change.

The only other case I can imagine is that you pressed CTRL+F and entered a search query into the quick search bar below the file list. When the search query is cleared or the bar closed, the list should return to normal.

Good afternoon

I first posted this issue three years ago. I do not use FileZilla often, only when I need to upload a file bigger than 32 MB (the WordPress limit). After my initial post, I solved my immediate problem by sending the file to my document writer who uploaded the file for me. However, the problem still exists and no solution has been suggested. I am currently using FileZilla Version 3.62.2.

To recap, I believe I am connected to both my local and remote sites, because all folders and files are displayed in a list when I search on either the local or remote site. I have removed all filters and I have not pressed Ctrl-F to use the quick search bar. However, no files are displayed at both the local and remote sites, just a message such as shown below (where the number of objects filtered corresponds to the number of files in the directory).
Empty directory. (60 objects filtered)

I have studied the Network Connection wiki in great detail, tried various suggestions with no success.

I would be grateful if a solution can be suggested.

Regards

With the "filtered" message displayed, there are filters in place. What happens if you right-click the fourth icon from the right in the toolbar? This should kill all filters applied.

The CTRL+F search does not persist over sessions, so, it should not apply.

Thank you for your response. I can assure you I had removed all filters, so I do not understand the cause of the error.

However, I can report I solved the problem by reconnecting to the site and this time I selected "Establish connection in new tab".

However, I now have connect twice each time and I get two tabs.
