"Don't check for updates" still checks for updates

I have the following option set:
- V6gu8y9.png (7.15 KiB) Viewed 2248 times
But I still get this every time I start Filezilla:
- sk7UEu6.png (7.06 KiB) Viewed 2248 times
How is it telling me there is a new version available but then telling me "I can't tell you about it because you said not to check for updates" ?

What you are seeing is the obsoletion nagscreen. When a FileZilla version is of certain age, it considers itself as being obsolete and displays this screen. After such a long time, there must be at least one new update, it just assumes that (nothing was actually checked).
If you prefer running outdated versions, you'll have to live with that nag screen, as it cannot be disabled whatsoever. Plus, of course you do lose all support, we only support the latest version on current OS (Windows 8.1 and higher).

You need to update to the most recent version. Outdated versions are not supported.

That explains it. It's being used in a locked down older production server and due to the process of getting rights to update the app we disabled update checks to avoid the regular pop-ups. Was surprised to see this one come up.

If you don't mind losing official support, you can compile the sources for this special case with the popup disabled.

Is there a way to also block this popup?
We were receiving a lot of user requests because of this popup. Yes, we could have updated earlier.. Was much going on.
But If I choose I do not want an update check I really would appreciate no notification at all.

Live with it? Well no, I could build the client from source with the nag code removed, or I could write a patcher to disable it - that might even work on future versions if/when I do decide to download a new version. Should be easy enough with access to the source.
Isn't it annoying how people keep complaining to you about the nag screen? So I guess it's annoying to both you and the users.

It's so simple to update. Just update.
