FileZilla not connecting with MAC ONLY

Running current download of FZ 3.53.1 on both my MAC 10.13.6. and my WIN 10 box.
can connect to my server with no issues on the PC.
The MAC will not connect at all and I get this error: "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
same settings on both platforms, same router
have removed and re-installed on the Mac, have created fresh destinations but nothing seems to work..
looking for illumination!
