Virtual Directory Traversing

Hello,
I'm trying to pull a directory off a ftp server. However the parent directory, upon traversing, eventually runs into virtual folders/aliases that manually allows me to go over to where individual files are, but Filezilla halts and does nothing. Doesn't even label it as a failed transfer. It just can't find a file because it hits the alias. Is there a way to tell filezilla to follow the virtual directories and just pull the files?
If there's another thread that explains how to do this, I apologize for starting a new one then, but I couldn't find an answer to this in searching.
