Transfer pauses when computer sleeps

Most of the time, when my iMac (OSx High Sierra) goes to sleep (ie after so many minutes inactivity) the ftp transfer pauses. When I enter my password to open up/wake up the computer again, the transfer restarts. However, sometimes (rarely) the transfer does continue while the computer sleeps. Why is there this inconsistency? Is there something I should be doing in the settings to avoid this problem?

Is the option to prevent idle sleep during transfers set on the interface page in the settings dialog?

Hi botg - yes that option is already selected.

Either macOS is overriding FileZilla's no-sleep requests, or there is some third-party program explicitly requesting sleep.

Thanks, so wondering why it sometimes does carry on transferring when asleep? Maybe I should quit all other open programs and leave Filezilla open?

It cannot carry on transferring when asleep.

Define "Sleep". There are different sleep states. In the real Standby (S3) or Hibernate (S4) states, devices are suspended and no transfers can occur. FileZilla's settings should prevent the system getting into a real sleep state.
