Hi, I'm having the same problem with FileZilla v3.55 that I had with v3.51, I just updated it and when I try to connect to a previously-working ftp site, it just sits there doing nothing. No error messages, no nothing. I tried reinstalling it, which worked for v3.51, but it has made no difference.

As I needed to get this fixed and didn't get any help on here, I fixed the problem by installing Cyberduck, which works perfectly. I like FileZilla, but I've had this same problem twice after it has updated itself, so it looks like I'll have to abandon it.

Make sure no firewall is blocking FileZilla.

Thank you for your reply. I would have thought that if FileZilla was blocked by a firewall, it would produce an error message, wouldn't it? In any case, I checked and FileZilla is added to the allowed apps list.

Are you sure you actually told it to connect? If it doesn't do anything and doesn't print anything in the message log, then you didn't tell it to do anything.

Yes. I click "Connect" and enter the site password, but nothing happens visually. If I try connecting again, it tells me that it's already connected, but the right-hand panel for the remote site still says "Not connected to any server" as it did from the start. This is the exact same fault I got after a previous update. Note: I always update everything ASAP, so I've updated FileZilla lots of times without any problems.
