Cannot convert SSH key to .ppk format

I've just installed FileZilla client 3.55 on macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
I want to create a new connection via SFTP to a remote server. I have a private key generated with terminal using ssh-keygen, connection to the server via terminal works smoothly.
When I submit the private key in the site manager, it asks me to change the format to .ppk, which I confirm. However, after typing the passphrase I get an error message: I restarted my MacBook and re-installed FileZilla already, but the problem persists. I checked the package content of FileZilla.app, fzputtygen is in the same folder as FileZilla.
Does anyone know what might be the issue here?
