File has changed box...

I've read some forum posts on this and it seems that the File Has Changed Box is here to stay. However annoying it is.
I'm wondering whether it'd be possible to turn this box into a Desktop notification instead of a modal Filezilla application box?
That way you are not dragged into the Filezilla screen automatically and you could stay on your editor screen and just click 'Yes'?
I'm not an X programmer or anything, so i've no idea if this is possible...
