So I am a teacher. I have a student that can't connect.

We tried it on another students computer (that have the same hardware). It works fine there.

What could be wrong?

Depends on the type of error. Usually, with timeouts, a firewall is blocking connections. For 530 errors, the cause could be typos in the provided credentials (even if they are invisible, like stray blanks).
