[Solved] MacOS Client 3.55.1 damaged

[MacOS Catalina 10.15.6]

I just downloaded the Macos 3.55.1 client [FileZilla_3.55.1_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2], but after extracting and running, Finder tells me:

You can’t open the application “FileZilla_3.55.1_macosx-x86.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete

Is there a solution to this problem? Cheers, Nap.

Please use the OS tools for extracting the app bundle. Third party tools like WinZIP are known to damage the bundle when extracting.

(How can I update the title to say "Solved"?)

Title can be changed when editing the first post. Did it already.

For some reason, I was unable to edit my OP. I was able to edit posts I had just made though. Maybe there's a timer for some user permission levels?
Anyway, thanks!

I'm not aware of any. But as a moderator, I have unlimited edit time, so, I can't say for sure. The first post itself isn't locked for editing.

I noticed this the other night. Regular users get about 20-30 minutes to edit a post (maybe 60) - then the edit button disappears, and only reply, report, or quote reply are the options.

Interesting. Usually, the admin tells me such things (as I cannot look it up myself), but that's news to me.

Must be a default feature of the forum software, I certainly didn't configure this behavior. Good thing though, prevents spambots from creating seemingly harmless topics, only to later edit them with spam.

It seems to be an added feature - one of the forums I manage (different software) saw the same change with a default behavior during an upgrade.

Have been seeing the concept more and more, and agreed - it is a good deterrent. It also prevents people from changing the context of a discussion after replies -- probably more beneficial that handles more objective discussion and doesn't specialize in product support. (Sorry to have hijacked the topic hijacked here) --

It has been a feature of phpBB virtually forever - it just was never before enabled as default.

[Offtopic]A much more elegant solution would be versioning of posts, with admins and mods seeing the original post and the edit, and

- either having to approve the edited post, for it to become visible to the public, or
- being able to revert edited posts to their pre-edited state (same as with vandalized articles in the Wiki).[/Offtopic]
