I have a website. Which over the years has grown to be massive with thousands of images mainly JPEGs added frequently. Just how big is a website allowed to get and does FZ experience problems uploading to a BIG website

Your website can get as big as your webspace allows. Just remember that without proper scaling and segmentation of sites, it will need more and more loading time. In other words, don't load all pictures in one big site and you should be fine.

FileZilla has been tested with millions of files. The amount of test data transferred since its first release will be certainly now into the PetaByte range. No worries, there is no practical limit you could reach right now or in the near future (provided the hosting server is not limited in any way).
