Hello all: long time user, new problem
I am trying to connect to an HTTPS:// host and using the protocol : SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol. and login in as Normal.
when I click OK or Connect in Site manager, I see the protocol change to FTP before it exits.
I tired port 22 and while I can exit, the host will not connect because a TLS cert is not generated unless I use the HTTPS:
this all DOES work, I have it working on 4 different PC in the office.
the very first time I select HTTPS:// and SFTP, a cert is created and stored and everything works after that.. except this one PC..
Export from a known good PC and importing to this one does not fix the issue.
any ideas on where to start looking?
I thought maybe IE settings?
I thought maybe exporting the cert from a know good PC?
thanks in advance

Where did you select HTTPS://?

Re: HTTPS host but protocol defaults to FTP
Https:// is the suffix for the host: (or is that a prefix)
Example:
example.com works but https://example.com take the existing protocol of SFTP and changes it to FTP when you click on the Connect button in Site Manager.

Re: HTTPS host but protocol defaults to FTP
This version of FileZilla is EOL and does not receive further support. Please update.
Prefix for SFTP servers in QuickConnect is sftp://. HTTPS servers are not supported (only Storj, and some further Cloud providers in Pro).
SFTP does not use TLS certificates, but Host keys.

Re: HTTPS host but protocol defaults to FTP
There simply is no SFTP server listening on that address and port.2022-04-29 11:54:33 4016 1 Trace: Connecting to 74.200.55.174 port 22
Re: HTTPS host but protocol defaults to FTP
If there isn't any, then you cannot use SFTP.
FTPS (FTP over TLS/SSL) requires an FTP server of some sort.
From what I see in a quick check, that server has no usable public services. Maybe it is an internal server, accessible only from the workplace?
