Auto overwrite files

#1 Post by domtrump » 2023-07-10 12:26

I transfer the same file from a vendor every day from their server to ours. The file always has the same name. I set the options that I thought would automatically overwrite each time (attached) but it is not working. What am I doing wrong?

Setting the checkmarks as you selected it means the setting is remembered only for the currently queued files.
Setting only the "Always use this action" checkmark means the settings is remembered until you close FileZilla.
The dialog window does not allow setting a truly permanent preference.

For configuring it permanently, you need to open the FileZilla Settings and configure it there. Only this is remembered when you close FileZilla.

Hmmm... that is unfortunate. I need different rules for different folder/server pairs and for different clients. One of our clients is in the process of developing a script for us to automate the daily process of downloading the file from their FTP to ours and then back up to them once we process it. Perhaps they will be able to figure something out from a script aspect to handle overwriting files in specific folders.

What you do from a script does not apply to what you can do from FileZilla. Note that FileZilla itself cannot be operated from a script at all, that's exclusive to the paid FileZilla Pro CLI command line client.
