trouble downloading with FileZilla

I connect to a server, and I can easily do uploading to that server. But when I try to download a file from that server, using FileZilla, it fails, and I get

Status: Starting download of /mydomain.myserver.net/myfile
Command: CWD /mydomain.myserver.net
Response: 250 OK. Current directory is /mydomain.myserver.net
Error: Critical file transfer error
Status: Disconnected from server

Local site is /private/.
Remote site is mydomain.myserver.net .

What's going on???

Well, OK, duh.

I never specified an accessible local site. Default seems to be /private/, which I cannot download to. Once I specify an accessible local site, as in /User/me/Desktop, all downloading works perfectly. My mistake.
Interestingly, once you specify that accessible local site, it comes up automatically every time you open FileZilla. Nice.

Yes, it remembers the last local directory. That location is lost only if that directory ceases to exist.

Take a look at the Bookmarks menu. Lots of cool stuff inside for remembering different directories and switching between them.
