How can I check the correctness of the file transfer?
Is there a way to compare the source files with the transferred files?

If you use FTP over TLS, the files are integrity-protected by the protocol.
For plain FTP, no such official feature exists. There is no random access to the online files, only as Byte stream, so, any verification would require downloading all files a second time.
